Sometimes life feels like a constant battle. Everything seems to go wrong, one thing after another, and there is no way out. When every step forward is followed by two steps back, even the most skeptical people find themselves wondering: has someone put the evil eye on me?
Being cursed feels like the only plausible explanation.
After years of professional practice, I can confirm one thing: the majority of people who believe they are cursed are not. Most situations attributed to curses have psychological or situational explanations. In most cases, there is a simple reason for what is happening: exhaustion, coincidence, or simple bad luck. It's frustrating, but these periods of misfortune tend to end without any special intervention.
That said, a significant number of people really are the targets of curses.
How do you know if you are cursed? What are the signs of a curse? How can you tell if someone has cursed you?
What is a Curse?
It’s good to begin with precise definitions. The objective of a maleficium - curse or hex - is to cause damage to an individual through magic. The spell attaches itself to the target and begins to have adverse effects. This results in a strange succession of negative incidents, from hair loss to financial ruin.
If the curse is particularly strong, this cycle of misfortune can ultimately end with the victim's death.
The severity of the consequences usually depends on two things: the intention behind the curse and how long it is left untreated. Everything can start with a simple evil eye, but if nothing is done to remove it, the effects accumulate over time, creating a chain reaction.
Either way, the experience of being under a hex is always debilitating. A curse stops you from progressing, and every effort to get out of the situation seems to be rewarded with more and more negativity.
Curse or Paranoia?
Am I cursed or paranoid? We must accept that psychotic features are sadly prominent in the occult community. Many who enter the world of black magick don't do so in the best mental condition. Others join while going through deep personal crisis and the most turbulent time of their lives. This makes them highly suggestible.
During this learning process, they also come into contact with other black magick users or practitioners. The moment something goes wrong, they point the finger at everyone else. Another witch has cursed them. Their spells have backfired. The friends they've made along the way have turned against them. Maybe they have angered a demon or another spirit.
Are you under the effects of a baneful spell or are you just deluding yourself? Look at it logically and consider if anyone would have a genuine reason to curse you. The chances are low if you consider that you need to have pissed off someone severely enough to make them want to hex you, and they need to be able to pay for it.
If the answer is yes, this person must find a genuine spellcaster skilled enough to put an effective hex on you, which is not simple at all.
I promise you the reality is much more practical. Calamities can happen to anyone. Annoyances and bad luck exist, and our lives are shaped by our actions and decisions. A not-so-great existence is the reality for most people, and they live in chronic dissatisfaction not because they are cursed, but because habits, environments, and beliefs that work against them.
My intention is not to dismiss anyone’s experience, but to help you see the situation more clearly.

A real witch must act with integrity and not accept every curse removal request. I'm very careful when someone comes to me with alleged hex symptoms, but what they say makes no sense. I remember a woman who sent me an insanely long message about an enemy who had been putting "death spells" on her since 2004. Well, twenty years later, she's still pretty much alive, so the "death spells" are obviously not working.
I reserve my right to refuse to work with people who seem to lack the most essential common-sense. Ethically, this makes me suspect that there are other problems at play beyond black magick, and accepting their request would only validate their fears.
In fact, this lady would be the perfect target for an unscrupulous practitioner. She is not really looking for a solution. She is too attached to a narrative that gives meaning to her distress to let it go. Her beliefs are giving power to an enemy who probably has nothing to do with any of this. At this point, she is creating the problem herself.
This person is her own hex.
The Signs of a Curse
The intensity of hex symptoms depends on several factors: the type of magick employed, the nature of the spirits involved, and the original intention behind the curse.
For example, some extreme hexes are fueled by what is described as death essence. They are designed to erode health, so evident sickness and decrepitude without a clear medical explanation are the results.
Usually, the symptoms of a curse are subtle manifestations that worsen gradually. The following are the most frequent:
- Sudden hair loss.
- Damage to your property, with objects breaking or malfunctioning in rapid succession.
- More and more insects appearing in your home, including infestations or bugs that seem to follow you.
- Obsessive and intrusive thoughts centered on a specific person.
- Inexplicable injuries, bruises or minor accidents.
- Personal items going missing, particularly those of emotional importance.
- Suicidal ideation.
- Financial problems, with unexpected expenses, lost income, or money disappearing as quickly as it comes in.
In order to reasonably consider the presence of a curse, several signs must be present simultaneously: at least four, not just one. Isolated problems like the seasonal hair loss that happens twice a year, per se, it's never an indicative of being cursed.
Correlation does not equal causation.
Are Generational Curses Real?
The idea that a curse can pass from one generation to the next has gained popularity as an explanation for some people's bad luck. But it is nothing new in the occult world.
An ancestral hex is the reason behind why generations of women in the same family suffer terrible luck with men and marriages, or why the sons of certain lineages die young.
One of my favorite examples of what a generational curse is is the Duchy of York. If you look closely, the title never produces a male heir to inherit it and always ends up returning to the Crown. The Duke either has daughters, dies earlier than expected without children or, unfortunately for him, becomes king himself.
It is a perfect example of a hex placed on someone and their descendants. The bloodline is waiting for someone to wake up and break the curse. If not, the next generations will never have a chance to escape it.
It is important to clarify that many spells can affect whole family lines. But most of the time, what we are looking at is generational trauma and toxic patterns of behavior. Dysfunctional parents are specialists on passing on the damage to their offspring. Children learn by imitation, and they grow up watching behaviors that they end up reproducing themselves.
That's why you end up living the same exact life your parents did. Our lineage determines things like eye color and makes us more likely to suffer from certain diseases. But we also inherit behaviors and mistakes.
Take your family's stories about generational curses with a grain of salt before assuming spiritual issues.

How to Remove a Curse For Good
At some point, you need to stop investigating and take action. People waste a lot of time trying to confirm a curse over and over again, using egg cleanses, wax readings, candle divination, and other diagnostic methods.
If you are cursed, you must delete the hex before it's too late. Fortune favors the bold. Don't be scared. Don't co-operate with the antagonist who is hexing you with your indecision.
Can you simply let it go and see whether the curse fades over time? It depends. Some curses fall away on their own, but is not smart to think "I'm cursed, but I'm not going to do anything because it will eventually go away". When you are under the influence of a hex, time will not necessarily work in your favor.
Home remedies can help, but they may not be powerful enough to remove a malefic spell. Sad news, burning sage doesn't remove spell work. The art of smudging is an ancient ritual of purification to clear the air of your space and make you feel better, but it's ineffective as a curse cleanser.
A genuine curse can only be removed with certainty through a professional curse removal ritual.
Genuine curses can only be identified with certainty during a professional curse removal ritual. The removal is immediate. Unlike love or money spells, there is no waiting time. Once the ritual is completed, it's done. The curse is gone.
What Happens After a Curse Removal?
It may not seem important, but what the victim does after the curse removal can be decisive.
How long will it take to feel normal again? Although the removal is immediate, full recovery can take a few weeks. Sometimes the sense of relief is immediate, but the symptoms don't disappear overnight. You may experience the spiritual version of phantom limb syndrome for a while. A person who has been cursed is a victim, after all, and they need time to come to terms with what happened and finally move on. It is important to stay away from thoughts like “the removal didn't work,” “I need another one,” or “I should consult someone else.” Don't start checking again with tarot cards, egg cleanses, or other diagnostic methods. Give yourself time to return to normal.
The next thing to consider is if there is any chance of this happening again. If you have been the target of black magick once, you can become a target again. Protection is highly recommended.
Protection also puts an end to the fear of being cursed again, because future attacks can no longer affect you.
And, as I explained in my article about parasite spirits, make sure to do something to celebrate the end of this nightmare. Then, put the curse thing from your mind as much as possible and enjoy your life.

Thank you.
With all that said, are there any spells that help clear family trauma/self sabotaging patterns and negative beliefs handed to you by your parents? Specifically, lack of belief in oneself and lack of self love and confidence.
Could the ,heal emotional pain‘ and road opener help with that?
I’d say I’m pretty self reflected and been ,doing the work‘ – for the last years I’ve been trying various forms of therapies and methods to deal with this stuff but with rather limited and slow results whereas other report great transformations, hence I’ve been thinking nothing is really working and I might be cursed or have some entity attachment (I sometimes have disturbing dreams about evil malevolent stuff being after me).
I am making some changes, just too slow for my liking. In general life feels hard and like I’m stuck.
I do sometimes have these symptoms though:
Obsessive feelings about a particular person
Random bruises and scratches
Missing personal items. (Tbf though might just be because I’m chaotic but sometimes it seems unexplainable)
I’d be grateful to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
Great info thanks 😊
Love your blog! Really informative, keep up the great work :)
Another great education from Lila!!
